The radiation survey meter is in-situ measurement equipment to determine the presence and intensity of radiation. The major radiation detected by survey meter is gamma radiation. Survey meter is an excellent gamma monitoring on site. It is a portable instrument and it's measure the rate of gamma in ยตSv/hr.
Radiation Survey Meter
Usually, for measuring gamma radiation using survey meter, reading of surface and 1 meter above the surface is taken. This method was globally used for environmental radiation monitoring on site. At least three reading will be taken for each measurement at sampling location. Three reading for surface and three reading for 1 meter above the surface at each sampling point. All the data collected can be used to do radiation mapping of the sampling area to determine location that has higher radiation using software.
